Stack’s Bowers Galleries has announced it will offer the Rick Springfield Collection of United States gold coins in its upcoming Summer 2025 Global Showcase Auction, set to take place August 25–30 and September 2–5 at the firm’s Griffin Studios in Costa Mesa, California.

The collection, assembled by Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, and actor Rick Springfield, includes approximately three dozen rare and high-grade U.S. gold coins. Among the standout pieces are an 1879 Flowing Hair four-dollar gold Stella graded Proof-65 by PCGS, and a 1907 High Relief Saint-Gaudens double eagle graded MS-67+.

Springfield, best known for his chart-topping hit Jessie’s Girl and a long-running acting career that includes roles on General Hospital and in major motion pictures, described the collection as a personal passion.

"I always wanted to own some of the best coins from the best country in the best condition I could collect," he said.

Other key items include early quarter eagles dated 1808, 1825, and 1833, as well as three-dollar gold pieces, Liberty and Indian Head half eagles, and high-grade ten- and twenty-dollar gold coins. Many of the coins are certified by PCGS and approved by CAC and CMQ. Some specific examples include:

Stack’s Bowers Galleries President Brian Kendrella praised the offering as a showcase of Springfield’s eye for quality.

"We are thrilled to bring these incredible coins to market," he said, noting the unique crossover appeal of a collection formed by a renowned entertainer and dedicated collector.

Springfield, who continues to perform and record music, is also the author of the bestselling memoir Late, Late at Night and a longtime mental health advocate. In a nod to his music career, Springfield will offer a special bonus to the winning bidder of the collection’s top lot: two VIP concert passes and a backstage meet-and-greet at a show of their choice in the United States.

The coins will be featured in the Stack’s Bowers Summer 2025 Global Showcase Auction, held in conjunction with the ANA World’s Fair of Money. Lot viewing will be available beginning August 27, with the full catalog and bidding information posted at www.stacksbowers.com.
